Kuwait Says One Killed, 63 Injured as Iranian Attacks Hit Airport

Officials said emergency teams remained on alert after strikes damaged civilian and vital facilities, including diplomatic missions.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeted civilian and vital facilities, including Kuwait International Airport, killing one person, injuring others and damaging vital facilities, including diplomatic missions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it called “brutal and ongoing Iranian attacks” and said the latest strike occurred at dawn Wednesday. The ministry said the attacks violated international law, the United Nations Charter and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.

Kuwait’s Health Ministry said hospitals received 63 injury cases and performed seven major emergency surgeries after what officials described as Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Sund, the official spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, said a comprehensive health mobilization had been in place since the first hours of the incident. He said the country’s health system was continuing to strengthen readiness around the clock.

The ministry said emergency plans were activated at hospitals and health facilities, with medical, nursing, technical and emergency teams placed on alert. It said the injuries included workers, passengers and travelers, with cases involving smoke inhalation, fractures and other trauma.

Kuwait Airways said flights affected by the suspension of operations on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, would be rescheduled. The airline said passengers seeking to cancel tickets or change booking dates for Wednesday flights would be exempt from cancellation and rebooking fees.

Separately, U.S. Central Command said an additional wave of Iranian drones attempting to attack U.S. forces in Kuwait failed to hit their intended targets. CENTCOM said U.S. air defenses downed multiple drones and that no American personnel or assets were harmed.
