Three Dead, Three Officers Injured in Minneapolis Shooting

Officials detail deaths, injuries and the emergency response at a Loring Park apartment building.

Three people, including the suspected shooter, are dead and three Minneapolis police officers were injured in a shooting at a Loring Park apartment building, city officials said Wednesday.

The City of Minneapolis said one civilian died at Hennepin County Medical Center and another died at the scene. The suspected shooter also died there, but authorities had not determined how and had not released the person’s name.

Two injured officers were taken to HCMC, and one was undergoing surgery. Three other civilians who were shot were also being treated there.

Four additional officers experienced adverse effects after exposure to an unknown airborne substance. Two other officers were injured when their squad car crashed while responding.

Police received a call regarding the shooting around 4:30 p.m. and found multiple victims inside the building’s lobby, heard further gunfire, located additional activity upstairs along with haze.e.

Police departments from several cities, the Minnesota State Patrol, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI assisted.

Central Lutheran Church opened a reunification space for those affected. The American Red Cross was setting up a shelter, and the Salvation Army was providing food.
