Iran Rejects New U.S. Talks, Rules Out Nuclear Stockpile Transfer

Tehran says Pakistan remains the only recognized mediator and rejects deadlines, ultimatums, and uranium transfer proposals.

Iran says the transfer of nuclear stockpiles is not on the table and rejects a new round of US negotiations.

A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country had no intentions for further talks with the US as Tehran retaliated against what it called Washington’s inconsistent diplomatic strategy.

According to Tasnim News Agency, spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated that any American group visiting Islamabad was “their own matter,” sending a clear message that Tehran does not view such a visit as a legitimate diplomatic procedure. According to him, Iran still only recognizes Pakistan as an official mediator.

Additionally, he rejected any notion of compromise on fundamental beliefs, stating that Iran will not alter what he referred to as its “red lines” or accept deadlines or ultimatums.

Regarding Iran’s enriched uranium, Baqaei was unambiguous: the transfer of stockpiles to the US or any other third party has never been discussed and is not being considered. “There has never been a negotiation option for Iran’s nuclear stockpiles to be transferred or removed,” he stated.

Baqaei blamed Washington and Israel for the tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. “The US and Zionist regime’s military aggression since March 9 is the primary cause of the Strait of Hormuz crisis, and they bear direct responsibility for the current situation,” he stated. He continued by saying that Iran’s activities over the previous 40 days constituted a justifiable defense against armed assault.

Along with denouncing a US attack on an Iranian commercial ship as an act of aggression, the spokesperson charged Washington with routinely breaching a ceasefire and failing to take diplomatic engagement seriously.

Baqaei also urged regional governments to refrain from allowing their territory to be utilized against states that are nearby.
