Six of the seven ballistic missiles Iran launched at Kuwait and Bahrain on June 5 were intercepted by U.S. Central Command, which later struck Iranian coastal radar stations to reduce the threat of follow-up attacks, CENTCOM said.
CENTCOM said it had earlier downed four Iranian attack drones heading for the Strait of Hormuz before the missile salvo began. The seventh missile did not reach its intended target, according to the command.
No U.S. personnel were harmed, CENTCOM said. The command also rejected Iranian claims that the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain had been hit.
After intercepting the drones, U.S. forces struck Iranian coastal radar stations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island, CENTCOM said. The command said the sites were being used to support maritime threats in the region.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks, calling them a clear violation of Kuwaiti sovereignty, a breach of the U.N. Charter and a direct breach of Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
The ministry said the attacks posed a direct threat to the lives of citizens and residents and represented a dangerous escalation that could push the region toward greater tension at a time when the international community is pressing for a halt to hostilities.
The Kuwaiti ministry reaffirmed the country’s full right to take all necessary measures to protect its security and defend its territory and vital installations against any aggression or threat.
Bahrain’s General Command of the Defense Forces said Iran had continued what it described as a hostile approach by targeting Bahraini civilians with missiles and drones.
Bahraini air defense systems intercepted and destroyed three missiles and several drones, the command said. It added that all weapons and units remained at the highest state of readiness.
The Bahraini command warned the public not to approach or touch any foreign or suspicious objects left by Iranian projectile debris and to report them immediately. It said Royal Military Engineering Field Unit personnel were prepared to handle such objects safely.
The command said deliberately targeting civilians and private property with missiles and drones constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
