KYIV, Ukraine — The Kamensky Combine in Russia’s Rostov region was hit in a Ukrainian strike, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday. Zelenskyy described the plant as a defence enterprise involved in missile production.
Writing on Telegram, he said: “Our long-range sanctions have targeted the Rostov region. The Kamensky Combine, a Russian defense industry enterprise involved in missile production, was hit.”
A Pantsir-S2 air defence system was also hit, Zelenskyy said, along with a command and staff vehicle of an S-400 Triumf system. He put a figure on the air defence equipment alone.
“The total value of the air defense assets struck is around $70 million,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked the Security Service of Ukraine and other units of the Defence Forces for the operation. The work, he said, was aimed at cutting Russia’s ability to keep fighting.
“We are justly defending ourselves against Russian aggression and doing everything to reduce Russia’s capability to continue it,” Zelenskyy said.
The claims in the post could not be independently verified, and Zelenskyy gave no date for the strike in the text reported on Sunday.
