The U.S. military completed its sixth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran at 9:40 p.m. ET Thursday, hitting dozens of military targets as Iranian attacks spread to Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan.
U.S. fighter jets, aerial drones and warships launched precision munitions at Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities, U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
CENTCOM said the strikes, ordered by the commander in chief, are meant to further degrade Iran’s military and hold Tehran accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping. More than 50,000 U.S. service members are operating across the Middle East, the command said.
U.S. bombing has largely focused on southern Iran, though some recent strikes have reached deep inside the country.
Iran has widened its own attacks. Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan have come under Iranian fire, and the Iranian military claimed it targeted U.S. forces in Bahrain and Syria.
Neither side has publicly signaled willingness to return to negotiations. Iran has called the Strait of Hormuz an “unbreakable red line” and responded harshly to President Donald Trump’s threats to strike Iranian infrastructure.
Addressing the nation Thursday, Trump said the U.S. is “winning big” in Iran and promised Americans will see results “very, very shortly.”
