U.S. strikes on bridges in Iran’s Hormozgan province killed at least seven people, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported, as the U.S. completed its sixth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran.
Mehr said six bridges were hit in Khamir County, including the Kohorestan Bridge, which connects Hormozgan and Fars provinces and was destroyed. Iranian state TV had earlier reported three killed and nine wounded in strikes on two bridges in the province; the accounts have not been reconciled.
The bombing campaign hit dozens of military targets as the conflict spread across the region.
Iranian outlets reported American strikes across the country’s south. “Three explosions were heard around the airport and at least one American enemy projectile hit Iranshahr airport” in the southeast, state broadcaster IRIB said on Telegram.
Mehr said the Bandar Abbas Railway Junction Station was also struck, injuring two Iranians. Another attack wounded one person in the western port city of Bushehr, state media reported.
U.S. fighter jets, aerial drones and warships fired precision munitions at Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities, U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
CENTCOM said the strikes, ordered by the commander in chief, are meant to further degrade Iran’s military and hold Tehran accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping. More than 50,000 U.S. service members are operating across the Middle East, the command said.
U.S. bombing has largely focused on southern Iran, though some recent strikes have reached deep inside the country.
Iran has broadened its own attacks. Mehr reported that Iranian forces struck U.S. bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria and Jordan in retaliation, while Qatar has also come under Iranian fire.
Neither side has publicly signaled willingness to return to negotiations. Iran has called the Strait of Hormuz an “unbreakable red line” and responded harshly to President Donald Trump’s threats to strike Iranian infrastructure.
Addressing the nation Thursday, Trump said the U.S. is “winning big” in Iran and promised Americans will see results “very, very shortly.”
