Ukrainian Drone Strikes on Wildberries Warehouses Kill 7 in Russia

Kyiv says the logistics hubs fed Russia’s drone program as fires burned east of Moscow

Ukrainian drones hit two Wildberries warehouses deep inside Russia overnight Saturday, and Russian officials say seven workers died with dozens more hurt. Kyiv says the sites supplied components for Russia’s drone program.

The deadlier strike came in Kotovsk, roughly 475 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Tambov region Governor Evgeniy Pervyshov said on Telegram that drones hit the Wildberries warehouse there, injuring 25 people.

Air defenses shot down 28 drones on approach, Pervyshov said, and more casualties were only avoided because most never reached the site.

A second warehouse burned in Elektrostal, east of Moscow, where regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov said on Telegram that 24 people were hurt. Wildberries said the strike hit its facilities and that staff got out. Video from the city showed flames sweeping the length of the logistics complex and a smoke column visible across town.

Kyiv confirms the strikes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attacks Saturday in a post on X, calling them part of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” and a response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure. He said the two logistics facilities, more than 500 and nearly 700 kilometers from the front line, were used by Russia to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.

Zelenskyy did not specify whether the warehouses stored equipment intended for the Russian military.

Zelenskyy said an oil facility was also struck. Ukraine’s General Staff said in a statement on Telegram that forces hit the Nafto-Service oil depot in Noginsk, in the Moscow region, sparking a fire at a site it said stores fuel and lubricants, including for the Russian army.

Hundreds of drones reported over Moscow region

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said 370 drones were heading for the Moscow region and that air defenses neutralized most of them, destroying 64. Those figures could not be independently verified.

Beyond the warehouse strikes, Ukrainian forces hit two tankers, two floating cranes, a tugboat and a Svetlyak-class patrol ship in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, according to the General Staff. The patrol ship was struck in Kerch, in Russian-occupied Crimea — the second vessel of its type hit in two days.

Zelenskyy thanked Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, armed forces, security service and defense intelligence for what he called the precise and coordinated execution of the missions.

Wildberries is Russia’s largest online retailer, founded by Russian billionaire Tatyana Kim.
