Trump Says Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Will Be Extended by Three Weeks

Trump said the United States will work with Lebanon as the ceasefire extension moves forward.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks after a White House meeting with senior U.S., Israeli and Lebanese representatives.

Trump announced the extension in a post on Truth Social, saying the Oval Office meeting “went very well.”

According to Trump’s post, the meeting included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, along with high-ranking representatives of Israel and Lebanon.

Trump said the United States would work with Lebanon “in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah.” He did not provide further details on what that support would involve.

The president also said he expects to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun “in the near future.”

Trump described the Oval Office meeting as “historic.” His post did not include additional information about the terms of the ceasefire extension or the next steps for Israel and Lebanon.
