Nepal Wins Asian Games 2026 Cricket Qualifier Title

Bhurtel's 65 and Sher Malla's four-wicket haul seal Nepal's place at the Asian Games

Nepal beat Hong Kong by 19 runs on DLS Monday to win the Asian Games 2026 cricket qualifier final in Singapore.

Nepal will now play at the Asian Games in Japan this September. Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Oman also booked their spots after reaching the semifinals.

Chasing Hong Kong’s target of 189, Nepal were 114-2 after 11.3 overs when rain stopped play. The DLS calculation handed Nepal the victory.

Opener Kushal Bhurtel led the chase with 65 off 40 balls, striking eight fours and three sixes. Captain Deependra Singh Airee was unbeaten on 9 off 4 balls and Rohit Kumar Paudel was batting on 35 off 24 when the weather intervened. Asif Sheikh fell for a golden duck.

Hong Kong had posted 188-7 after Nepal won the toss and elected to field. Anshuman Rath top-scored with 80 off 45 balls, including six fours and six sixes. Shahid Wasif added 55 off 28 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes.

Nepal’s Sher Malla took four wickets in the bowling. Karan KC finished with two wickets, and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed one, giving away 46 runs in four overs.
