President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States and Iran will meet Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, though Iranian officials disputed that any such meeting had been scheduled.

The White House said Trump’s envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff would travel to Doha for the talks.
The announcement followed days of strikes between the two countries near the Strait of Hormuz.
Axios reported Sunday, citing a senior U.S. official, that the sides had agreed to halt attacks and meet Tuesday to resolve their dispute over the strait.
Iran has not confirmed Trump’s account. The AP reported that Iranian officials said no meeting was scheduled.
Reuters reported Sunday that an Iranian official told state TV the country skipped technical talks slated for that day, citing recent attacks and unmet conditions of its agreement with Washington.
Whether the Tuesday meeting happens is still unconfirmed.
The U.S. and Iran signed a deal earlier this month. Under the deal, Tehran agreed to dilute its stockpile of enriched uranium, and the U.S. agreed to waive its sanctions. The agreement also reopens the Strait of Hormuz and gives each side 60 days to reach broader terms.
