CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Trump was on his way to a rally here when the post went up. He claimed the United States is about to receive 1 million barrels of oil from Venezuela. Taxpayers, he said, will pay nothing for it.
Trump posted the claim on Truth Social on his way to a rally in Corpus Christi. He said the shipment followed what he called a “Highly Successful Military Operation” and a renewed relationship with Venezuela, and he described the delivery as the start of much larger shipments.
“This is just the first shipment of BILLIONS of Barrels to come.”
He called the arrangement the “Biggest Oil Deal in the History of the World.” Those descriptions are Trump’s own. The post named no Venezuelan official, gave no date for the shipment’s arrival and did not say which U.S. agency or company would receive the oil.
Trump also claimed the oil is being provided “at NO cost to the American Taxpayer.” Virginia Times has not independently verified that claim, the size of the shipment or the wider deal he described.
In the same post, Trump argued that energy production from Alaska to Venezuela had made the Western Hemisphere “the Energy Capital of the World.” He predicted fuel prices would fall.
“Gasoline and Diesel Prices will soon come plummeting down — JUST WATCH!” he posted.
Trump said he was traveling to Corpus Christi for a packed rally. The oil claim was the only announcement in the post, which gave no further details about how the shipment would be delivered.
