Naresh Bhatt Murder Trial Continues After Testimony on Power Saw

MANASSAS, Va. — Naresh Bhatt’s murder trial continued Tuesday after a crime scene investigator testified about a power saw prosecutors allege he used to dismember his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt.

A Prince William County investigator testified Monday about examining the saw, FOX 5 DC reported. Bhatt faces charges of first-degree murder, concealing a dead body and defiling a dead body.

According to FOX 5’s account of court documents, investigators also recovered a power saw containing hair fragments and found evidence of trips to several trash disposal sites.

Mamta worked as a pediatric nurse at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center. She was 28 when she disappeared. After she missed work on Aug. 1, 2024, and again the next day, her co-workers asked police to check on her.

Bhatt initially told officers he did not believe she was missing and said he last saw her July 29. Family and friends said she would never abandon her infant daughter.

He reported her missing Aug. 5. Authorities classified her as involuntarily missing later that day.

Bhatt remains in custody. Mamta’s body has not been found.
