Lorton man arrested after Fairfax Station church burglary

Fairfax County police said the stolen church vehicle was found in Hybla Valley after a License Plate Reader alert.

A Lorton man is facing burglary and auto theft charges after police said a Fairfax Station church was broken into and a church-owned vehicle was stolen.

Officers were called about 10 a.m. April 23 to the church in the 4900 block of Ox Road, Fairfax County police said.

Police said a suspect broke a rear sliding glass door, entered the church, damaged property and took items from inside.

Detectives later learned that a vehicle belonging to the church was also missing, police said.

The vehicle was found in the 7900 block of Ladson Lane in Hybla Valley after detectives received a License Plate Reader alert, according to police. Akuamoa Boateng, 30, of Lorton, was identified as the driver and arrested.

Police said property taken from the church was recovered from the vehicle.

Boateng was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on charges of burglary, auto theft, larceny with intent to sell, felony destruction and possession of Schedule I/II drugs. Police said he was held without bond.
