Folarin Balogun will be available for the United States’ World Cup Round of 16 match against Belgium on Monday after the FIFA Disciplinary Committee suspended his red-card ban, FIFA announced Sunday.
The committee ruled that under Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, Balogun’s automatic match ban is “suspended for a probationary period of one (1) year.”
Balogun was sent off in the 64th minute of the Round of 32 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the USA won 2-0. The 25-year-old New Yorker has three goals at the tournament.
