Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said finalization of an Iran peace deal is likely within 24 hours, with Pakistan preparing for an electronic signing immediately after.

We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. — SHEHBAZ SHARIF, PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN, ON X

In his post on X, Sharif said technical-level talks are planned for next week.

Sharif thanked the United States and Iran for their commitment during negotiations and also thanked what he described as “our brothers in the region” for their backing. He said he was confident the deal would form “a strong foundation for lasting peace.”

Sharif’s statement followed President Donald Trump’s announcement Thursday that he had canceled planned strikes on Iran that evening. Trump said discussions had reached the highest level of Iranian leadership, and all parties had approved a deal.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had cancelled “the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening.”

Trump said the discussions and final points were approved “in both concept and great detail” by the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others. None of the named countries confirmed the deal in the post.

Trump said the naval blockade stays in place until the deal — which he called a “Transaction” — is finalized. He said he will announce when and where the signing will take place.
