Ukraine Says Russian Chemical Plant Hit 1,700 Kilometers From Border

Zelenskyy said production at Metafrax Chemicals was halted after a long-range Ukrainian strike in Perm Krai

Ukraine’s Security Service struck a chemical manufacturer in Russia’s Perm Krai region Saturday, halting production at a facility that supplies components to Russia’s weapons production chain, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X.

Zelenskyy said Russia’s Metafrax Chemicals supplies materials used in aircraft, drones, missile engines and explosives across dozens of Russian military production sites.

The strike reached 1,700 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, Zelenskyy said. He credited the Security Service of Ukraine and called the operation “an important long-range sanction.”

Days earlier, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said Ukrainian forces struck a Russian FSB headquarters and destroyed a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system in temporarily occupied territory.

The ministry said fighters from the Security Service of Ukraine’s Special Operations Center “A” carried out the operation, killing or wounding about 100 Russian troops.

The ministry did not identify the location of the FSB strike or say when it took place.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said its medium- and long-range “sanctions” would continue.

“Russians must feel that they must bring this war of theirs to an end,” the ministry said.
