‘Get your f***ing hand out of my face’: Scott Jennings Blasts Adam Mockler on CNN

A CNN debate over Iran turned tense after Jennings snapped at Mockler during a sharp exchange over war strategy, legality and public opinion.

Conservative strategist Scott Jennings told political commentator Adam Mockler to get his hand out of his face during a tense exchange on CNN over the U.S. military conflict with Iran, prompting host Abby Phillip to step in and calm the panel.

The CNN segment centered on the political, legal and strategic fallout from the conflict. The panel discussed polling showing public disapproval of the U.S. decision to take military action, as well as questions about the war’s goals, cost and legal basis.

According to CNN’s discussion of a March poll, nearly 6 in 10 Americans disapproved of the U.S. decision to take military action. Panelists also debated why President Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth have described the war as popular despite polling concerns and domestic effects, including rising gas prices.

The exchange between Jennings and Mockler began when Mockler criticized Jennings’ record as a former George W. Bush administration official and accused him of defending another war involving a country “that starts with letters Ira.”

“We all know that Scott Jennings is more than happy to defend a war with a country that starts with letters Ira,” Mockler said, adding that the conflict was “going to put us trillions and trillions of dollars more in debt.”

Mockler also said he was “only a few years old” when Jennings was in the Bush administration “defending prior endless wars.”

Jennings disputed Mockler’s description of the Iran conflict as “endless.”

“Eight weeks is endless to you?” Jennings said.

Mockler responded that Jennings had previously said the conflict would last “four to six weeks.” Jennings then asked whether Mockler had “the attention span of a gnat.”

As the discussion continued, critics on the panel argued the conflict had failed to extract political concessions from Iran. Supporters of the administration’s position said the military campaign was necessary to prevent Iran, described in the discussion as the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The panel also discussed whether the current military actions were legal under the War Powers Resolution. The debate touched on whether the United States could claim a pause or ceasefire while maintaining a naval blockade.

Mockler accused Jennings of making “condescending remarks” because, Mockler said, Jennings could not defend the direction of the war. Mockler then pressed Jennings to name “one political concession.”

When Mockler spoke while gesturing, Jennings interrupted him.

“Get your fucking hand out of my face, first of all!” Jennings said.

Phillip quickly intervened.

“Guys, excuse me,” Phillip said. “Everybody, calm down. Okay? We’re having a debate. You can respond to the points that he’s making.”

Jennings said he was “not going to have this guy’s hand in my face,” while Phillip urged the panelists to respond to the argument and continue the discussion.
