Eight Children Shot Dead in Shreveport; Suspect Killed After Police Chase

Police say the shooting began at multiple homes and ended with an officer-involved shooting on Brompton Lane

Eight children were killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport early Sunday, Chief Wayne Smith said during an official police briefing. Smith said the case was a domestic incident.

Chris Bordelon, a Shreveport Police spokesperson, said the victims were between the ages of 1 and 14. Ten people were shot in total. Some of the children were related to the man taken
into custody.

The shootings took place at two homes south of
downtown Shreveport. Bordelon said police were also working a third scene.

Bordelon said the suspect took off in a stolen vehicle and was chased into neighboring Bossier City, where he was shot and killed by officers.

Louisiana State Police said its detectives were called in by the Shreveport Police Department shortly after 7 a.m. to look into an officer-involved shooting that followed the chase on Brompton Lane. One subject was shot and pronounced dead. No officers were hurt.

The case remains open. State police asked anyone with information, photos, or video to come forward — either through the LSP online reporting system at lsp.org or by calling the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007. No motive had been announced as of Sunday afternoon.
