Iran Halts Oil Tanker Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Again, IRNA Says

Iranian state media linked the reported tanker halt to Lebanon fighting and said Tehran discussed the issue with Pakistan’s army chief.

According to IRNA, Iran has halted the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz after what the Iranian state outlet described as Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

IRNA said the development was linked to the latest fighting involving Lebanon, but the report did not provide further operational details about the measure or say how long it would remain in effect.

The outlet also reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir spoke by phone about what IRNA described as Israeli violations of a ceasefire in Lebanon.

The reported move comes a day after the United States and Iran agreed to a temporary 15-day ceasefire that included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for the same period.
