Trump Accuses Iran of Using AI Disinformation, Rejects WSJ Plane Damage Report

Trump says Iran used fake imagery and false reporting to shape coverage of the conflict.

President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that Iran is using artificial intelligence and false media reports to spread disinformation about the conflict, while claiming the country is being “decimated.”

In the post, Trump said Iran had circulated fake images and false battlefield claims, including what he described as nonexistent “Kamikaze Boats,” fabricated scenes of buildings and ships on fire, and a false image of the USS Abraham Lincoln burning at sea. He said the carrier was neither struck nor on fire.

He also disputed reports that five U.S. refueling planes had been struck down or badly damaged. He specifically criticized The Wall Street Journal’s reporting, writing that the aircraft were still in service except for one, which he said would be back in operation soon.

The president blamed the spread of these false reports on Iran’s dissemination of them to what he called the “Fake News Media,” and said some media sources were knowingly spreading the false information. He said that sources of these reports should be charged with spreading false information.

The president also praised Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr, saying he was “thrilled” that Carr was reviewing the licenses of certain news organizations that Trump said were “corrupt and unpatriotic.” Trump said these news organizations used the public airwaves to spread false information in both news and entertainment programming.
