President Donald Trump said he plans to sue JPMorgan Chase & Co. “over the next two weeks,” accusing the bank of “incorrectly and inappropriately” cutting him off after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol protest. Trump made the claim in a post on Truth Social.
In the same message, Trump denied a report by The Wall Street Journal that said he offered JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon the job of Federal Reserve chair. Trump called the report “totally untrue” and said no offer was ever made.
Trump also criticized the Journal for not contacting him before publication, saying he would have immediately denied any offer. He rejected the idea that he considered Dimon for Treasury secretary as well, while praising Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s performance.
Dimon has denied any job offer. Reuters reported Dimon said there was no offer and praised Bessent’s work.
JPMorgan has also pushed back on the “debanking” allegation. A spokesperson told Newsmax the bank does not believe accounts should be closed because of political or religious beliefs, while declining to discuss individual clients
