Zelenskyy Criticizes India, UAE Over Condemning Alleged Putin-Residence Attack

Ukraine disputes Russia’s claim and urges countries to avoid reacting to unverified allegations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said statements by the United Arab Emirates and India condemning an alleged attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence were “confusing and unpleasant,” arguing those governments have not condemned Russian strikes that have killed Ukrainians, including children.

“You know, honestly, it is confusing and unpleasant that some countries, like India, the UAE, and a few others, condemned — excuse me — our supposed drone strikes on Putin’s residence, which never happened,” Zelenskyy told journalists on Tuesday, Dec. 30, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said he has not heard condemnation from those countries over Russian attacks in Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia had provided no plausible evidence for its accusation that Ukraine targeted Putin’s residence. “And they won’t. Because there’s none. No such attack happened,” Sybiha wrote on X.

Sybiha said the Emirati, Indian and Pakistani statements expressing concern over the reported incident were disappointing and urged countries not to respond to unverified claims, saying it can feed Russian propaganda. He also noted that those governments did not issue official statements after what he described as a Russian missile strike on a Ukrainian government building on Sept. 7, 2025.

A day after Russia’s claim, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was “deeply concerned” by reports of an attack on the Russian president’s residence, according to Narendra Modi on X. Modi urged parties to avoid actions that could harm diplomatic efforts to end the war.
