President Donald Trump announced three new federal judicial nominees and withdrew a separate Treasury Department nominee in a series of posts on his social media platform Truth Social.
Trump said he is nominating Justin Olson to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, highlighting Olson’s magna cum laude law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and prior work in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis. Olson has also been involved in litigation related to restrictions on transgender participation in women’s sports, Trump noted.
In a separate post, Trump said he will nominate Megan Benton to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He cited her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, experience as a prosecutor in the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and current role as a trial court judge in Platte County, describing her as a “fighter” for the Constitution.
Trump also announced the nomination of Brian Lea to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He pointed to Lea’s role as a deputy associate attorney general at the Justice Department, his clerkships with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Ed Carnes, and his academic background at the University of Georgia School of Law and Union University.
Separately, Trump said he is withdrawing the nomination of Donald Korb to serve as assistant general counsel at the Department of the Treasury, thanking officials for their attention to the change.
