Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil Facility 2,000 Km Away, Zelenskyy Says

Zelenskyy credits upgraded FP drones with a stated 3,000-kilometer reach as Kyiv pushes strikes farther into Russia.

Ukraine struck an oil-processing facility in Russia’s Tyumen region, more than 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday, crediting newly upgraded long-range drones for the attack.

Zelenskyy called it “an effective strike” and said it reached a facility well beyond the range of most previous Ukrainian operations.

He said upgraded FP drones, which can now reach targets up to 3,000 kilometers away, carried out the attack. He credited engineers at Fire Point, which builds the drones.

Zelenskyy also said Ukraine’s mid-range strikes on Russian military targets in temporarily occupied parts of Ukraine were continuing and were affecting Russian military logistics.

The Tyumen strike was the latest in a run of long-range Ukrainian attacks this week.

Ukraine hit the Moscow oil refinery overnight earlier in the week for the second time in days, also striking Russia’s Rostov region and occupied areas of Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces had struck a refinery in Moscow’s Kapotnya district on Tuesday, about 500 kilometers away, Zelenskyy said. The plant processes 250,000 barrels of oil a day and supplies up to 40% of the region’s fuel.

Russian air defenses shot down dozens of drones during the operation, Russian officials said. They reported no casualties.

Zelenskyy has said the strikes are meant to force Russia to end the war.
