WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump endorsed Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters for another term on Friday, posting on Truth Social that Gruters has his “Complete and Total Endorsement” three days after Republicans lost control of Congress in the midterms.
Trump called Gruters a “MAGA Warrior” who “has been with us from the very beginning.” He said Gruters, as chairman, turned the RNC into “an efficient, focused, and powerful machine” that will keep advancing the America First agenda for years.
“Joe Gruters should return as Chairman of the RNC to continue to build our Party, and be a trusted partner as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and ensure Free and Fair Elections,” Trump wrote. “Joe has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
The backing came after RNC co-Chair KC Crosbie, another Trump ally, announced she would challenge Gruters for the job in January, The Hill reported. In a letter announcing her bid, Crosbie called Tuesday’s results “a serious setback” and said Democrats will control both chambers.
“We owe ourselves an honest account of why,” Crosbie wrote in the letter, according to The Hill. She said voters had focused on the cost of living and the direction of the country, and that better field work and voter contact had not delivered the results Republicans needed.
Trump pointed to Gruters’s record in Florida. As a state senator and as chair of the Republican Party of Florida, Gruters helped deliver what Trump called massive and historic victories across the state, including his own wins there in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
As Sarasota County chair, Gruters named Trump Statesman of the Year in 2012 and again in 2015. Trump said he was the only person to win it twice.
Trump said Gruters is “100% America First,” that the grassroots loves him, and that he will do an incredible job in 2028. Crosbie’s challenge is set for January, The Hill reported.
