Khamenei Orders Immediate Response to Any Enemy Threat

Tehran would decide when any renewed conflict ends, the supreme leader said in a statement to senior commanders

TEHRAN — Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has told the country’s armed forces that any threat, at any level, must draw an immediate and effective response with no geographical limits, according to a statement from his office posted Saturday on X and Telegram.

“Any level or type of threat must be met with an immediate, impactful, and geographically unrestricted response,”

Khamenei also said Tehran, not its enemies, would decide when a renewed conflict ends. “Should Iran’s enemies resume military or terrorist attacks, it will be the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation that will determine when and under what conditions those attacks will end,” the directive said.

He gave the same orders in person to senior commanders, the statement added. Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdollahi, Army chief Amir Hatami and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Ahmad Vahidi briefed him on readiness along the Persian Gulf coast, around the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, and on the northwestern and southeastern borders, according to a report from IQNA that cited the leader’s office.

Intelligent combat readiness is a basic requirement for maximum deterrence, Khamenei told the commanders.

He also ordered a comprehensive update of Iran’s military target list. “The military target database must be updated comprehensively to ensure that all kinds of physical and non-physical assets of the US-Zionist enemy are brought within the reach of the Armed Forces,” the statement said.

Earlier Saturday, army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia warned President Donald Trump that Iran would retaliate significantly against any future U.S. attacks, AnewZ reported.

The orders came a day after Trump said the war with Iran would end soon. “It’s going to get wrapped up soon,” Trump said Friday in an interview with KCMO radio. “We need a guarantee there’ll never be a nuclear weapon,” he added.

Qatari mediators were continuing talks aimed at ending the conflict. A round in Tehran on Friday lasted more than 12 hours, and officials said the Qatari team stayed in frequent contact with U.S. negotiators during the talks, according to AnewZ.
