10 Killed in Russian Strike in Kharkiv Region, Zelenskyy says

Emergency crews continued working as the circumstances surrounding the attack were being established.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 10 people had been reported killed in what he described as a Russian attack on a busy intersection in Pechenihy in the Kharkiv region.

The reported toll was current as of the time of his post on X. Zelenskyy wrote that the attack happened that morning at an intersection with a post office and stores, surrounded only by residential buildings.

Many people were injured and were receiving all necessary medical care, according to the post. He also offered condolences to the families and loved ones of those reported killed.

First responders had extinguished the fire, and emergency crews continued working at the site, the post said. The circumstances surrounding the attack were still being established.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine would respond to the strike and called it important for partners to complement that response with measures to pressure Russia and support Ukraine.

Virginia Times could not independently verify the reported death toll or Zelenskyy’s attribution of the attack to Russia.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
