Likud wants police and the Shin Bet to investigate its claim that Arab parties stole Israel’s election through bribery, intimidation and fraud.
Benjamin Netanyahu shared the party’s statement on X. Likud said it was handing hundreds of testimonies and pieces of evidence to those agencies and the Central Elections Committee over alleged offenses at Arab polling stations.
The statement does not establish whether the alleged fraud occurred or affected the outcome.
Likud alleged that thousands of envelopes contained cash and Ra’am voting slips. It also alleged threats and violence against polling station workers and multiple people voting behind the voting screen.
Other accusations concerned discrepancies between the number of ballot envelopes and voters, along with software that Likud described as prohibited for mobilizing voters.
Likud also accused the Arab parties of supporting terrorism and seeking the elimination of the Jewish state. The statement provided no independent substantiation for those accusations.
The party called on police and the Shin Bet to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute those responsible. It separately demanded an immediate response from the Central Elections Committee to investigate the alleged offenses.
“This is a serious blow to Israeli democracy and the voting rights of Israeli citizens.”
Earlier Wednesday, Virginia Times reported that Likud led the partial count with 20.74% of valid votes, citing Israel’s Central Elections Committee. Yashar!, running under the banner “Yashar! With Eisenkot for Prime Minister,” had 16.19%.
