KATHMANDU — The National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) has been suspended until a further decision, Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs said in a public notice first published on Oct. 30.
N-PABSAN was set up with the Government of Nepal’s approval and has been operating under the National Directive Act, 2018. The ministry said it had repeatedly not complied with directives given under Section 5 of the Act.
It said office bearers of the organisation had also acted against the organisation’s statute, approved by the government, and against its main objectives.
According to the notice, the ministry held a discussion with concerned stakeholders on Oct. 9 and asked the association to carry out its work in line with the National Directive Act, 2018, and a directive the ministry issued on Nov. 28, 2025. The ministry said that was not done.
For that failure to comply with a directive issued under Section 5, the ministry used Section 6, sub-section (2), of the Act to suspend the association, the notice said. It will stay suspended until the ministry decides otherwise.
The notice carried a warning, too. Any activity in the institution’s name by any group or faction after the notice would be unlawful, it said, and action would follow under the prevailing law.
