Oleshky Ceasefire Holds for 30 Hours, Ukraine’s Lubinets Says

The humanitarian mission seeks to deliver aid and arrange safe departures for civilians who need to leave.

A ceasefire in Oleshky had held for 30 hours without an incident, Ukraine’s human rights commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, said in a post on X.

Lubinets attributed the ceasefire’s observance partly to ongoing communication with Yana Lantratova, Russia’s commissioner for human rights. The two remained in contact to coordinate efforts to carry out the agreements, he wrote.

His account of the absence of incidents was not independently verified.

In a statement Tuesday, Oct. 27, first lady Melania Trump said Ukraine and Russia were honoring the ceasefire agreement. Citing Lubinets, she said both countries had fulfilled their obligations under the humanitarian mission as of 5:30 p.m. Kyiv time that day.

Lubinets thanked Melania Trump for personally devoting time and attention to the mission and to helping civilians in Oleshky. He described her direct involvement and coordination between the parties as important to the effort.

He also thanked her team for its continued support, communication and work on the mission.

“Our shared goal is to ensure that civilians in Oleshky receive assistance and to create the conditions for the safe departure of those who need it,” Lubinets wrote.

Work on the mission was continuing, he said, with people’s lives and safety the priority.
