Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah said several long-struggling state-owned enterprises have returned to profit or posted higher sales under his government, according to a post on his official Facebook page.
Shah said Nepal Drugs Limited, loss-making for years, sold 23.8 million rupees of medicine over the past four months and earned a 30 million-rupee profit last fiscal year after winning WHO manufacturing certification.
Nepal Airlines Corporation earned 6.28 billion rupees in the final four months of the last fiscal year, about 1.1 billion rupees more than the same period a year earlier, Shah said. He said seat occupancy climbed to 86%.
The prime minister said the Dairy Development Corporation cut its payment backlog to farmers and raised average daily revenue to 9 million rupees from 6 million. He said the army has been tasked with trial production to help reopen the shuttered Hetauda textile mill.
