U.S. Central Command said Thursday that no American aircraft were destroyed or damaged in recent attempted Iranian attacks, rejecting an IRGC claim that three F-35 fighters were destroyed at Jordan’s Al-Azraq Air Base.
Iran’s state-run IRNA, citing a Thursday Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps statement, reported that the IRGC claimed three F-35s were destroyed and three others sustained significant damage.
IRNA also reported the IRGC’s claim that several U.S. officers and technical and maintenance personnel were killed. Virginia Times could not independently verify the claims.
CENTCOM said all missiles and drones involved were intercepted or failed to reach their targeted areas. Its statement did not specifically address the alleged deaths.
CENTCOM also disputed Iranian statements about commercial shipping. It said IRGC threats and attempted attacks posed the immediate danger to commercial ships and civilian crews in the Strait of Hormuz.
The command also denied that the commercial tanker M/T Nora had broken through a U.S. blockade. It said more than 20 U.S. warships, hundreds of aircraft and thousands of service members remained in place to enforce it.
