Trump Accelerates Air Defense Aid to Ukraine

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration has prioritized the delivery of U.S.-made Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine, allowing Germany to move ahead of Switzerland in supplying two systems urgently.

The decision enables Berlin to transfer their existing units to Kyiv immediately. The U.S. will later backfill them with new Patriot systems manufactured by American defense contractors. This change in sequencing underscores the urgency placed by the Trump administration on bolstering Ukraine’s air defenses amid continued Russian missile and drone attacks.

    More Agreements on the Horizon

Officials familiar with the matter say similar agreements with other allies are expected soon. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is set to meet virtually with NATO defense chiefs on Monday to coordinate the next phase of military support. A follow-up session focused solely on Patriot system support is scheduled for Wednesday.

Countries participating in this enhanced support effort include Germany, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Britain, Canada, and Finland. These NATO nations will supply offensive and defensive weapons to Ukraine and receive replacements directly from U.S. manufacturers as part of a broader strategic pact.

Zelenskyy: Ukraine Ready to Export Drones to U.S.

In a video statement shared via X, formerly Twitter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the initiative and emphasized that his country is not only receiving aid but also ready to strengthen mutual cooperation. Zelenskyy said:

“We’re ready to buy weapons and export advanced Ukrainian tech to the U.S., especially drones — proven lifesavers in this war. I expect to sign new contracts next week to deepen our defense cooperation.”

He added that work on interceptor drones is being ramped up and emphasized Ukraine’s growing capabilities in next-generation warfare technology.

Push for Peace and Prisoner Exchange

In a video message posted Saturday , President Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine’s push for a lasting ceasefire and humanitarian resolution through diplomacy. He stated:

“Secretary of the NSDC proposed a new meeting with Russia next week. They must stop hiding from decisions. Ceasefire. Prisoner exchanges. Return of children. End to the killings. And a meeting at the level of leaders is needed to truly ensure a lasting peace. Ukraine is ready.”

The statement follows Ukraine’s ongoing compliance with Istanbul exchange agreements and signals growing international support for Ukrainian-led peace diplomacy.
