Ukraine Says Drones Hit Omsk Refinery, Now Reaches All Russian Oil Sites

Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Omsk, nearly 2,500 kilometers away in Siberia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday, adding that no Russian refinery now sits beyond the reach of Ukraine’s weapons.

Zelenskyy called the strikes part of a “long-range sanctions” campaign against facilities that fuel Russia’s war. He said the plan is firmly on track.

The Omsk attack marked the deepest target he named. Ukraine also hit oil facilities in the Saratov, Rostov, Tver, Stavropol and Krasnodar regions, along with Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, he said.

Forces struck an airfield in the Voronezh region and what Zelenskyy called a strategic enterprise in Tver. Drones also hit facilities in the Moscow, Leningrad and Bryansk regions, he said.

Zelenskyy framed the week’s strikes as a response to Russian attacks and thanked the units involved for their accuracy.

Friday’s strikes extend a months-long Ukrainian effort Zelenskyy calls “long-range sanctions” — drone and missile attacks on Russian refineries, fuel depots and weapons plants far from the front.

Ukraine’s General Staff called the Omsk Oil Refinery Russia’s most powerful, with capacity above 21 million tons a year, and said it was the last of the country’s 11 largest gasoline producers to be struck.

Earlier in the week, Zelenskyy said Ukraine reached the Saratov region, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan — about 800, 1,400 and 1,500 kilometers from the front line. “The Saratov oil refinery was hit,” he said, adding that Special Operations Forces struck a refinery in Tatarstan.

The Security Service struck the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil refineries in Ufa in Bashkortostan , some 1,500 kilometers from the front, which Ukraine has repeatedly hit.

Moscow has often acknowledged drone attacks but denied any damage, claiming it shot down dozens of drones on the nights of the strikes, the Defense Ministry said. Some of Ukraine’s claims could not be independently verified.
