Zelenskyy Counts a Week of Bombs, Missiles and Drones From Russia

Zelenskyy counts a week of Russian bombs, missiles and drones and asks Europe to unblock Patriot interceptors

KYIV, Ukraine — Russia has spent the week hitting Ukraine with guided aerial bombs, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday. His count: around 1,600 of them, plus 48 missiles and nearly 2,300 attack drones.

The tally came in a post on X. Zelenskyy wrote that the strikes killed and injured people almost every day.

In the Dnipro region the Saturday evening strikes killed four. Zelenskyy counted 22 injured there, an 11-year-old girl among them.

A high-rise in Vinnytsia was hit by a drone. Six people were hurt.

Kharkiv took a different kind of hit. Russian forces struck a home improvement hypermarket first, Zelenskyy wrote, and then struck the emergency services that came to help. First responders were injured in that second strike.

Overnight strikes also hit a thermal power plant, substations and coal mines, he said. Grain storage sites, shopping malls and a postal logistics hub were damaged too, with damage reported in nine regions.

“This is how Russia responds to diplomacy and deisolation.”

He asked partners not to let support drop as talks go on. Deliveries of Patriot interceptors already approved by European countries need to be unblocked, he wrote, and Ukrainian combat aviation needs continued support against jet-powered “shaheds.”

Every such package helps save lives ahead of winter, he added, thanking the partners who provide that support.

The figures are Zelenskyy’s, as he gave them in the post. They were not independently verified in the post itself.
