Five people were taken to a hospital after a car came to rest inside the Orlando-area building, authorities said

ORLANDO, Fla. — A car drove into a daycare in the Orlando area on Thursday afternoon, injuring three children and an employee, authorities said.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. Fourteen people were inside the building when the vehicle came to rest fully inside it, according to Florida Today.

The children were believed to be 4 years old. The injured employee and the driver were also hurt, and all were expected to recover, Orange County Fire Rescue officials said.

“The fact that there are no fatalities is a blessing.”

The Honda CR-V was traveling southbound when it left the road for unknown reasons, crossed the median and the northbound lanes, and then hit the daycare, Florida Today reported. Inspectors were at the building after the crash to examine its structure.

FOX 35 Orlando reported five people were taken to a hospital, including the driver, citing Orange County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol. The station said the crash was reported shortly before 3 p.m. near Ellinore Drive and Pine Hills Road, and that Pine Hills Road was closed in both directions.

Reports differed on the driver. Florida Today identified him only as a 79-year-old man, while FOX 35 Orlando reported a 71-year-old man was driving. Authorities did not say why the crash happened.
