Trump set no deadline. Two U.S. officials said no decision has been made and the military has received no new orders.
Israel would join “in two minutes” if he asked, Trump said, though he added that the United States does not need anyone else. He said Israeli participation would carry consequences, which the report tied to possible Iranian retaliation.
Iran wants to negotiate but is not ready for a deal, Trump said: “They haven’t received enough pain yet.” Two regional sources with knowledge of mediation efforts said Iranian leaders have not accepted the latest proposal.
The U.S. has escalated strikes over 12 days to halt Iranian attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil has passed $100 a barrel.
