Breaking : Trump Cancels Iran Strikes, Says Deal Approved at Highest Level

Hours after vowing to hit Iran hard, the president says a deal is approved and a signing is coming

President Donald Trump announced Thursday he has canceled strikes on Iran planned for this evening, saying discussions reached the highest level of Iranian leadership and a deal has been approved by all parties.

I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening. — President Donald Trump, on Truth Social

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the discussions and final points were approved “in both concept and great detail” by the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others. None of the named countries confirmed the deal in the post.

Trump said a naval blockade will stay in full force until the deal, which he called a “Transaction,” is finalized. He said he will announce the time and place of a signing shortly.

The announcement reversed a threat Trump made in an earlier post Thursday, in which he said the United States will hit Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT” and will later seize Kharg Island and other oil facilities to take control of Iran’s oil and gas markets.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Iran’s navy, air force, radar, anti-aircraft systems and all other defenses are gone, along with most of its offensive capability.

Trump wrote that “at some point in the not too distant future,” the United States will take Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points and assume total control of Iran’s oil and gas markets.

He compared the plan to U.S. involvement in Venezuela’s oil market, which he said is “working out brilliantly” for both countries. He offered nothing in the post to support that characterization.

Trump did not specify targets, the scope of the planned strikes or how the United States would take the island.
