The United Arab Emirates said its air defense forces intercepted four ballistic missiles and six drones launched from Iran on Sunday, March 15, as the country reported fresh attacks amid what it described as continuing Iranian aggression.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defense said the missiles and drones were engaged by UAE air defenses after originating from Iran. The ministry said its forces remain at the highest level of readiness to respond to threats against the country’s security and stability.
The statement said that since the start of the attacks, UAE air defenses have intercepted 298 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,606 drones.
The ministry said the attacks have killed six people of Emirati, Pakistani, Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationalities. It also reported 142 minor to moderate injuries involving people from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia and Sweden.
The ministry said it would continue to act firmly against any threat aimed at undermining the country’s sovereignty, national assets and public safety.
