Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Russia “rejects the possibility of ending this war” and warned European leaders to take seriously a series of drone incursions into Poland, calling them a threat to the entire continent.
In a statement posted on X, Zelenskyy said Ukraine has “responded positively to all proposals from the U.S. and President Trump to end all these attacks and killings” and has put forward multiple formats to pursue peace. He also urged that the Kremlin alone bears responsibility for continued bloodshed, saying the war “remains solely Putin’s war — the war of Russia alone.”
Zelenskyy said that Poland’s security is important to Europe’s safety and related his request to previous drone occurrences that crossed into Polish airspace. He said, “We expect the world to draw conclusions.” His statement comes after days of heightened alerts when coalition nations claimed that Russian attack drones were crossing into Poland and Romania. This made NATO members scramble jets and rethink their defenses.
“It is crucial that Europe truly understands: when it comes to Russia, it is not about one neighbor or another, it is about everyone,” Zelenskyy wrote, warning that Moscow will “only expand the war — and not necessarily against Ukraine alone” if left unchecked.
European officials have also sharpened their language. In Berlin on Wednesday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the incursions as part of a longer pattern of Russian sabotage and boundary-testing, and rejected any peace terms that undercut Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Zelenskyy’s post underscores Kyiv’s effort to keep pressure on Western allies for tighter air defenses and a firmer response to cross-border incidents while signaling openness to U.S.-led proposals to halt attacks — provided Moscow is prepared to talk seriously about peace.
