Zelenskyy Says Ukraine, Saudi Arabia Reach Defense Cooperation Arrangement

Zelenskyy says the deal could open the way for contracts, technology cooperation, investment, and wider talks on energy and regional security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have reached a defense cooperation arrangement, with the document signed ahead of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said the agreement was signed between Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia. He said it lays the groundwork for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investment, and would strengthen Ukraine’s international role “as a security donor.”

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is willing to share its knowledge and systems with Saudi Arabia and work jointly to make sure that lives are better protected.

He also said that the partnership might be good for both sides and that Saudi Arabia possesses skills that Ukraine is interested in.

The talks covered the broader situation in the Middle East and Gulf region, Russia’s assistance to Iran, developments in fuel markets, and possible energy cooperation, he added.
