Zelenskyy Says Russian Drone Strike Killed Two Train Workers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that a Russian jet-powered drone destroyed a passenger train locomotive in the Odesa region, killing the engineer and his assistant.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy wrote that 340 people were aboard the train. He alleged the drone operator must have known it was a civilian target.

That post also reported overnight strikes across 11 regions involving more than 130 Russian attack drones.

In a separate CNN interview shared in another post, Zelenskyy said Ukraine has two and a half times fewer interceptors than in 2025, while Russia has twice as many ballistic missiles per month as before.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine pays the United States in full for the missiles it receives. He asked Washington to sell Ukraine 5% of its PAC-3 interceptor stockpile, saying that allocation would help the country survive the winter and save lives.

A 10% allocation would allow Ukraine to destroy all Russian ballistic missiles, Zelenskyy claimed. He said Ukraine currently has 1% of the U.S. PAC-3 stockpile.
