Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Aiming to ‘Lock In’ Long-Range Strike Goals by Year’s End

Kyiv moves to secure deep-strike capacity with multi-year contracts and stepped-up partner air-defense efforts, the president’s office said.

According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that Kyiv’s top priority is expanding and securing long-range strike capabilities, following a staff meeting with senior military, economic, and diplomatic officials.

The president said the session brought together weapons manufacturers and commanders responsible for “deep strikes,” adding that three-year contracts are being issued to the most effective domestic producers to give both industry and the armed forces “greater certainty.” “The main topic was our capabilities for long-range strikes against Russia,” he said, noting that all deep-strike objectives should be “fully locked in by year’s end.” The Office of the President of Ukraine said funding for these efforts is secured and that air-defense cooperation with partners remains a daily focus.

Zelenskyy also highlighted frontline conditions around Pokrovsk, where he said Russian forces have concentrated major assault units. He thanked emergency workers and energy crews for repairs in hard-hit regions, including Chernihiv, and said weekly results are expected from defense diplomacy efforts with European partners.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week, citing U.S. officials, that Washington has lifted a key restriction on Ukraine’s use of some Western-supplied long-range missiles, a move that could enable more strikes on targets inside Russia. The report said additional European systems, including Franco-British Storm Shadow cruise missiles, may be used more frequently under the change.

The Office of the President of Ukraine characterized long-range capability as a component of independence and a pillar of future security guarantees, underscoring plans to expand Ukraine’s deep-strike footprint while maintaining pressure through global sanctions.
