    • Ukrainian President calls for immediate air defense support and increased drone production.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a sobering update Monday morning following one of the largest aerial assaults in recent weeks. According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces launched 101 drones overnight, most of them Iranian-made Shaheds, targeting multiple regions across Ukraine. The overnight barrage is part of a sustained campaign that has brought more than 1,270 drones, 39 missiles, and nearly 1,000 guided bombs into Ukrainian airspace in just the past seven days.

“Throughout the night and into the morning, emergency rescue operations have been underway in the Donetsk and Dnipro regions,” Zelenskyy posted on X. “In Kharkiv, rubble is being cleared after a strike on apartment buildings. 27 people were injured, including three children. The youngest, a girl, is just three years old.”

Three of the injured have been hospitalized, and tragically, one person was killed in Odesa. Zelenskyy extended condolences to the victim’s family. Air raid sirens were again sounding across Ukraine Monday morning as additional attack drones were detected.

“We are strongly counting on our partners to fully deliver on what we have agreed. Air defense remains the top priority for protecting lives,” Zelenskyy wrote.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the urgent need for international partners to accelerate delivery of previously pledged air defense systems. He also highlighted ongoing domestic efforts to boost Ukraine’s defense industry, particularly drone and interceptor production.

“We are actively advancing agreements on investing in our domestic weapons production, including all types of drones. Special focus is on interceptor drones,” Zelenskyy stated. “We are contracting at full capacity. I thank all partners who are helping.”

Ukrainian officials have reiterated their appeal for a NATO-backed no-fly zone or enhanced missile shield capabilities as drone warfare reshapes the dynamics of the ongoing conflict. Kyiv’s efforts to expand its self-reliant defense production mark a new phase in the war, with more pressure on allies to provide advanced tech transfers and financial backing.
