Two US Service Members Killed, One Missing in Jordan, CENTCOM Says

CENTCOM says four more troops were treated and released as families of the dead are notified

Two U.S. service members were killed in action in Jordan on July 17 as U.S. Central Command and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the command said in a statement.

One service member is missing, according to CENTCOM. The statement, issued from Tampa, Florida, did not say where in Jordan the attack occurred or how the service member went missing.

Four American service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan and have since been discharged, according to CENTCOM. Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty, the command said.

Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM said, it will withhold additional information — including the identities of the dead, whom it called “fallen warriors” — until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
