The Trump administration has approved a possible $825 million sale of air-delivered munitions and related equipment to Ukraine, a move the State Department said would strengthen a key European partner’s ability to defend itself and contribute to regional stability.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the proposed Foreign Military Sale includes up to 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles and 3,350 Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation Systems (EGI) featuring Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) with Y-Code or M-Code. The package also covers missile containers, pylons, mission-planning hardware and software, publications, training, spare parts, transportation, and U.S. government and contractor engineering and logistics support.
The State Department said the sale “will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.” DSCA added that the deal would bolster Ukraine’s capacity to conduct self-defense and regional security missions and that Kyiv “will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces.”
Funding for the purchase will come from Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, along with U.S. Foreign Military Financing, DSCA said. The agency also noted that the ERAM package reflects collaboration with NATO allies to field a capable system on an accelerated timeline.
Zone 5 Technologies and CoAspire are listed as the principal contractors. DSCA said it is not aware of any proposed offset agreements tied to the potential sale and that implementation would not require assigning additional U.S. government or contractor personnel to Ukraine. The agency also assessed there would be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness and that the sale “will not alter the basic military balance in the region.”
DSCA said Congress has been notified under standard FMS procedures. The approval is not a contract; quantities and price are ceilings, and the final value will depend on requirements, available funding, and any signed agreements.
