Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that Ukraine hit an oil facility in Armavir, in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Krai region, describing it as part of Kyiv’s long-range campaign against Russian targets about 500 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
Zelenskyy credited Ukraine’s Security Service with the operation. In a post on X, he said Russia had chosen to prolong the war rather than end it, and framed the strike as a response to Moscow’s attacks on Ukraine and its people.
“Step by step, we are carrying out our plan,” Zelenskyy said.
In a separate statement, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said Ukrainian operators destroyed an Iskander tactical missile system and two Tu-142 aircraft during a nighttime operation near Taganrog.
“Russia’s military assets are no longer safe, even far behind the front line,” the ministry said.
