Restoration work is underway in Ukraine’s Sumy region after overnight Russian drone strikes damaged energy facilities and triggered blackouts, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on X. The attacks caused power outages in the Poltava, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, leaving more than 100,000 households without electricity, he said.
Zelenskyy added that emergency services are working to restore supply “as quickly as possible,” noting reported damage far beyond the grid: a drone struck a regular lyceum in the Kharkiv region and a residential apartment building in Kherson, with injuries reported. The Dnipro region was also under attack, he said.
What’s next: Ukrainian authorities are assessing damage and prioritizing repairs to critical infrastructure; further updates are expected as restoration progresses.
