Ukraine Reunites 11 Children with Families Under ‘Bring Kids Back UA’ Initiative

Five siblings among children freed after year-long effort with Qatar’s mediation

    Highlights:
    – 11 Ukrainian children aged 10–17 returned from occupied territories and Russia
    – Five biological siblings reunited after over a year of separation
    – The State of Qatar played a key mediation role
    – Ukraine vows to continue efforts until every child is brought home

As part of Ukraine’s ongoing Bring Kids Back UA initiative, 11 more Ukrainian children have been successfully returned from temporarily occupied territories and the Russian Federation, according to Ukrainian officials.

    A Journey Home After Trauma

The children, aged between 10 and 17, endured a long and challenging journey to regain their freedom. One of the most emotional stories involved five biological siblings who were taken to Russia by their guardian at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

For a long time, their whereabouts were unknown. It wasn’t until the children managed to contact their adult sister in Ukraine that the family began to hope again. “Please, bring us home,” they pleaded, initiating a rescue effort that spanned more than a year.

“Russian guardianship authorities applied pressure, delayed the process, and tried to force the children to change their minds. Their return became possible only after more than a year of tireless and meticulous work.” — Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office

Support from Qatar and Ukrainian Ombudsman

The Ukrainian government expressed deep gratitude to the State of Qatar, which played a crucial role in mediating the children’s return. The Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine was also commended for its dedicated and principled efforts throughout the process.

The Head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, confirmed the operation’s success and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to reuniting all abducted or displaced children.

    Mission: Every Child Must Return

This operation is part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s larger humanitarian mission to return every Ukrainian child taken across borders during the war. “We will not stop until every Ukrainian child is home,” the Bring Kids Back UA team emphasized.
